For those who missed the notice, the County is asking citizens for input on the next police chief. We think this is a great opportunity for everyone to submit their suggestions about the type of leadership in law enforcement to best serve the public.
Here is the link to do so, and the link to the webpage (including Fairfax's brochure regarding the new hire!) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FCPDChief https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/topics/search-underway-next-fairfax-county-police-chief?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social Take a few moments and fill this out today!

Hello all and Happy Holidays! The Jefferson Village Civic Association directors and I went out multiple times this month to view everyone's many wonderful decorations! We appreciate you making our decision this difficult but three houses in our neighborhood stood out to just about all of us.
Your Jefferson Village Holiday Light Contest Winners Are: 2914 Madison St. - The Fun Zone Award (Most or best use of inflatables or characters) 2915 Marshall St. - The Holiday Tradition Award (Most aesthetic decorations) 2814 Rosemary Ln. - The Griswold Award (Most lights, lumens, or disregard for the national power grid) Congratulations to all three award winners! Each winning household will receive a gift certificate to a local business or shop! We'd especially like to thank Dominion Wine & Beer of Falls Church for the generous donation to our contest. Be sure to visit them on Broad Street in Falls Church or online at http://dominionwineandbeer.com. And thank you all for your efforts in making the season a little brighter. Check out all of the other great decorations we considered here on our blog! The decorating this year was EXCELLENT and made our decision appreciably difficult! Judging was definitely a highlight of our year! We'd like to share that experience with all of you and show you some of the many other homes that we considered in our deliberations over the past week. Everyone should be congratulated for their efforts in making this such a festive community. Happy Holidays to all and thank you for making the season bright! One of our favorite parts of the holidays is seeing how festive everyone is with their decorating. Even a few lights on a driveway pole or the shrubs makes the neighborhood feel like a community and will be especially welcome for those celebrating holidays here in Jefferson Village this year.
The Jefferson Village Civic Association encourages everyone to head outside and go all-out with our Annual Holiday Decorating Contest! Awards will include:
P.S. - Please ladder responsibly. As many of you know, our area along with the rest of the country, is experiencing rising rates of CoViD infections. To reduce the rate of infection and minimize the impact, the county has sent out Thanksgiving guidelines for all residents to review. https://fairfaxcountyemergency.wpcomstaging.com/2020/11/02/guidelines-for-a-safe-and-relaxing-thanksgiving-during-covid-19/
We hope everyone has a chance to enjoy a relaxing holiday this year and encourage our residents to share this information with their neighbors, friends, and family, so we can help spread the message and not spread the virus! Thanks! Hi, all. As mentioned, our November JVCA Board of Directors meeting will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 7pm. We will be reviewing the Halloween Grab & Go, other events from the summer, and the year's challenges and successes!
This will be our last scheduled meeting of the year. As always, JVCA Members are welcome to to sit-in, listen to our discussion and contribute to the conversation. Here is the Zoom link if you would like to join! https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82704631320 (One touch call-in at: +13017158592,,82704631320#) See you all there! Wow! On Oct 31st the JVCA in conjunction with the GDCA held our CoViD-sensitive Halloween Grab & Go event and we have never seen such a turnout! Most stations needed a candy replenishment halfway through the hour-long event as more than 200 kids and over 400 attendees joined us for a parade and pre-bagged treats!
Social distancing was well-respected as we saw great costumes, hundreds of neighbors, and most of all happy children pass by the tables set up by residents and the Civic Associations. The decorations by members and our own Vice-Chairperson seemed to be just what everyone needed to get them in the holiday spirit! Big thank yous to her, the JVCA Directors, our members, and all the residents along Custis Pkwy and Marshall St. for their help. We couldn't do this without you all! We are excited to promote the 2020 Annual Pup Parade! Dress up your pup and let it strut its stuff! Meet in John Mastenbrook Park cul de sac. We will parade to and down Marshall, take a left on Jefferson and end at Jefferson Village Park. Friendly, vaccinated, leashed dogs ONLY. Any questions about this event, contact Cathy Thatcher or Jane Torok
Please note: by participating you are doing so at your own risk. Children are welcome, BUT, this is a dog event so you the parents are responsible for your child’s safety. All dogs must be under the control of a person 18 years or older. PLEASE NOTE: In honor of our current covid pandemic, please remember to respect social distancing and to wear a mask to protect your neighbors! HALLOWEEN GRAB & GO - Sat. Oct. 31st 3PM! The Jefferson Village Civic Association is proud to present a “Halloween Grab-and-Go” for Jefferson and Greenway neighborhoods. Shamble, creep, or slither down to the intersection of Custis Pkwy and Marshall St. on Saturday, Oct. 31st for a costume parade and festive grab-and-go treats!
